War memorial duo ordered to move on

A homeless couple who have been camped at the Hoole War Memorial since before Christmas have been ordered off.
The police have issued them with a Community Protection Notice warning letter. This means that if they return to the monument, they can be arrested.
Opinions have been split in Hoole over the past six weeks, with some people having sympathy for the pair and offering them sleeping bags, money and food. Others have taken the view that they shouldn’t be sleeping at a memorial to the war dead.
PCSO Keith Bartlett says the police will be keeping a keen eye on the duo.
He said: “We’ve issued the warning notice in response to Hoole residents, who have complained in overwhelming numbers about them and their anti-social behaviour.”
